GREETINGS, I have not posted here in a very long time, for which I apologize. Soon after I made my last posting, my mother unexpectedly passed away, which was a shock and a terrible hardship for my family and myself.
During that time, I was overburdened with moving to a new home, while trying to fix up both the new house and repairing the old house, which had fallen into disrepair. I simply hadn't had the heart to blog, as it was such a sad and difficult time, and I lost my almost daily habit of writing and photographing.
Many people have asked me to take this up again, and I thank everyone who has giving me support, encouragement, and prayers.
Glad to see you are coming back. God's grace to you and your family.

ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Abeln, I only just found your blog as I was trying to find a way to imitate autochromes digitally. I am so impresses with your research. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am not that sophisticated in terms of color spaces. My background is in printmaking and I have been doing copperplate photogravure for the past 15 years. I have done a few 4 color photogravures with some success but I would love to try your method. So the question I have is, would I process my image in your old autochrome icc file and then switch to the sCMY icc file before I split my channels to create my trans-positives?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you lost your mother. I too lost my mother last August and it is a life changing event - cathartic. Thank you for your time.

So sorry for your loss...Please let me know how you collect the photos that are posted on your site. I see a picture of St. Alphonsus "Rock" Church at Easter and was wondering how you got the photo?

ReplyDeleteHave you been to DuBois in Washington County Illinois to photograph St Charles Catholic Church. It is called the "Cathedral of the Prairie and is quite a beautiful church. Two spires, a statue of the Pieta, glass dome in the roof, beautiful church.
ReplyDeleteLo siento muchísimo. Sé lo que es eso. Rezaré.
