A new booklet, now available for purchase: A Concise History of Saint Louis University, by William Barnaby Faherty, S.J., author of the book Catholic St. Louis: A Pictorial History.
“For almost two hundred years, Saint Louis University has fulfilled the Jesuit promise to educate mind, body, and spirit. As an institution of higher learning, the university-known familiarly as SLU-has served students from the region and around the globe. In A Concise History of Saint Louis University, SLU professor emeritus of history and prolific author William Barnaby Faherty, S.J., encapsulates the school's rich heritage and traditions. Faherty documents the university's growth and development with profiles on presidents, distinguished alums, buildings, athletics, and other features. A brief, engaging overview, A Concise History of Saint Louis University delivers more than just historical information, it tells the story of a venerable and cherished Jesuit institution.”

Saint Louis University, in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - dusk 1

And here is the cover photo, which I took on March 5th, 2008, at about 5:30 p.m. Rare late-winter snow covers the grass, while the setting sun illumines the spire of Saint Francis Xavier Church. Other photos I took that evening are here and here.

Also available is Caring for Victor: A U.S. Army Nurse and Saddam Hussein, published by Reedy Press. I photographed Sgt. Ellis for the cover. You can meet Master Sergeant Robert Ellis at the headquarters branch of the Saint Louis County Library on Monday, September 14th at 7:00 p.m.
