The church is located in western Jersey County, 8 miles west of the county seat of Jerseyville; this area was settled by farmers from the Schwarzwald, or Black Forest region in Germany.
I can't find any history of this church; if any reader would care to share information, I'd be happy to include it.
Unusual barrel-vaulted nave.
According to the 2009 diocesan directory, this church has 370 parishioners in 170 families.
The church will hold its annual festival on August 15th, 2009, on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The stained glass windows have titles of Our Lady, as found in the Litany of Loreto.
