Chalice2, they are not Prada shoes. Do a little research please. The shoes that you are backhandedly referring to are handmade. Perhaps they are a bit showy due to their color but they seem very practical for a man of the Pope's age. A much younger man could perhaps be a fisher of men and wear a sandal, would you rather he wear White Nike Hightops untied with the laces flopping???
Prada is a very established, family-owned leather/apparel goods company in Italy. It would seem most fitting for them to make shoes for the pope. I see nothing wrong with that.
