BY THIS TIME tomorrow, the street sign seen below will be overtopped by three feet of water. In 48 hours, it will be covered by an additional ten feet of water.
At this time, residents of Valley Park and other communities in the lower valley of the Meramec River are evacuating the area.

ReplyDeleteI spent about a half hour or so at this spot, and the rise in water was quite visible; water came in little waves, and unlike waves on a beach, the level increased each time a wave rolled in. I stood on dry land but quickly became surrounded by the rising flood.
I don't get easily frightened, but that was quite unnerving.
