Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Someone is spoofing my email address; I am getting a number of 'undeliverable email' messages. If you receive a spam email from "msabeln at yahoo dot com" in the Cyrillic alphabet, it comes from somebody else! The content of the email is about setting up offshore accounts to avoid taxation in the Russian Federation. By the way, the telephone number of the spammer is (495) 626 56 62, which is in Moscow.

The standard Internet email protocol does not verify that a sender is who he claims to be (see the Internet standard RFC 2821). It merely assumes that people are honest.

As a consequence, some Russian email providers have added my address to their blacklist, making future emails from my address to that country automatically undeliverable.
