Saint Prosper's Reliquary

IN THE CENTER of the photo is a reliquary containing remains of Saint Prosper of Aquitaine (ca. 390 – ca. 455), at Saint Francis de Sales Oratory, in Saint Louis, Missouri. Saint Prosper was a correspondent and defender of Saint Augustine, and wrote against the idea that Man can attain his own salvation through purely his own effort, and which is now a core heresy of the Enlightenment. Prosper is also known for stating the principle lex orandi, lex credendi, (which means roughly 'the law of prayer is the law of belief'): this Saint is therefore an appropriate patron of this church which attempts to revivify the faith via a restoration of worship.
